The park is located in the heart of downtown Midland, in the space previously occupied by the Midland County Courthouse and Centennial Plaza. Park construction began with a groundbreaking in April 2019 and completion scheduled for fall 2020. Adjacent to the Bush Convention Center, Centennial Park’s design transforms two central blocks in downtown Midland into a vibrant outdoor destination, providing a natural respite for its visitors.
The four-acre park is centered around the Great Lawn and Stage Pavilion, with tree-lined promenades running along its perimeter. An interactive water feature functions as a Splash Pad by day and a fountain by night. Additional features include a Dog Park, Concessions Kiosk, café-style seating, and a Children’s Nature Play.
Centennial Park is a public-private partnership between the City of Midland and private donors. The park is operated, maintained, and programmed by the Midland Downtown Park Conservancy (MDPC) and managed by the Midland Chamber of Commerce. The MDPC is a newly formed 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to restoring, revitalizing and creating a natural gathering place in downtown Midland.
