3. How do I go about opening my own food business?

First you must have access to a location that is zoned for that activity. Then, you must complete the City of Midland Certificate of Occupancy requirements. To complete this requirement, go to the City of Midland Development Service Department Code Administration Division at 300 N. Loraine Street Midland, TX 79702 and ask the clerks for assistance. Finally, you must purchase a Food Establishment Permit from City of Midland Health Department at 3303 W Illinois Sp 22. 4. Can I prepare food or drink in my home and sell it?

No. This is a direct violation of State law, City health codes and City zoning codes.

5. What do I need to do to sell food from my mobile unit?

You are required to obtain a Mobile Food Vendor Permit for the vehicle. To obtain one, contact the City of Midland Health Department, (432) 681-7613.

Further, you must drive the vehicle which requires a license to the City of Midland Health Department for a inspection located at 3303 W Illinois Sp 22, ask the clerk for further assistance, as a vehicle inspection is required before the permit can be issued.
In addition, to sell at a fixed location, you must do so on commercial property, with a notarized letter of permission from the property owner that also gives you access to restrooms on the property.

6. What type of pool needs a permit?

All commercial pools/spas located within the Midland County are required to have a permit. This permit expires annually, or upon transfer of ownership of the pool, whichever occurs first.

Yes we do provide Shingles vaccine for adults age 60 and older, by appointment only.

Midland Health Services provides all DSHS recommended and required vaccinations from birth through adulthood. We accept private insurance and Medicaid.

Yes, Midland Health Services does file with Medicaid and Medicare for vaccinations.

9. What is ImmTrac?

ImmTrac, the Texas Immunization Registry, is a no-cost service offered by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). It is a secure and confidential registry available to all Texans. ImmTrac safely consolidates and stores immunization information from multiple sources electronically in one centralized system. Texas law requires written consent for ImmTrac participation and limits access to the registry to only those individuals who have been authorized by law. ImmTrac contains over 120 million immunization records and continues to rapidly grow with increased participation.

1. Can I get TB from someone with a Latent TB Infection / Positive TB test?

No Latent TB Infections are not contagious. The bacteria which causes TB is present but it is not multiplying and being transmitted.

2. When will my TB screening results be available?

We test by appointment, and results are available three (3) days after you get tested. For example, if you test on Monday, please check on Thursday for your results, or if you test on Friday, please check on Monday for results. 

3. When do you conduct TB screenings?

We conduct TB screenings on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 8:00 - 4:30.

5. Can I work with a Latent TB infection / positive TB test?

Yes, because Latent TB infections are not contagious. The bacteria which causes TB is present but it is not multiplying and being transmitted.

6. What is a Latent TB infection?

Latent TB infection means that the bacteria which causes TB is present in the body, however it is not active. A person with latent TB infection will have no TB symptoms. A latent TB infection is not contagious.

7. What is Active TB Disease?

The bacteria which causes TB is present and has become active. It is multiplying and is contagious.

8. What is the difference between Latent TB Infection and Active TB Disease?

Latent TB Infection is not contagious. Latent TB Infection can be treated with medication to prevent its advancement to an Active TB Disease which is contagious.
