City Secretary Office

The city secretary’s office performs the following services:

  • Responsible for all records documenting decisions/actions of the City Council (resolutions, ordinances, original contracts). Maintain a current City Code of Ordinances.
  • Keep minutes of City Council proceedings.
  • Manage city elections and related activities.
  • Responsible for city’s records management program, including development / maintenance of records retention schedules for all departments.
  • Handle permits / licensing for alcoholic beverage sales, taxicab operations, and junk / secondhand good dealers.
  • Track membership of all City Boards/Commissions; notify Council of term expirations, vacancies and new applicants.
  • And so much more!

Notice of Voting Priority for Voters with Certain Disabilities

Candidate Eligibility

A candidate must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States;
  • Be a qualified voter;
  • Be at least 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election;
  • Have not been declared mentally incapacitated by a final judgment of a court;
  • Have not been convicted of a felony from which the person has not been pardoned or otherwise released from the resulting disability;
  • Have resided continuously in the state for 12 months and in the city/district for 6 months immediately preceding the deadline for filing an application for a place on the ballot.
