MPD: MAN ARRESTED AFTER ASSAULT IN WEST MIDLAND

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- At 8:43 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, Midland Police Department officers responded to a disturbance with weapons in the 4300 block of Storey Avenue.
It was there that officers reported a female subject was assaulted at the address by a family member.
“Due to the extent of her injuries, she was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for further evaluation,” MPD reported. “As officers were responding, the suspect made threats of harm to himself and to responding officers.”
More MPD personnel responded to the scene, including a negotiator, and the suspect was placed under arrest without incident. MPD later reported that 54-year-old Corey Ritchie was charged with assault by choking (during a family violence assault). Additional charges are pending the outcome of the victim's medical evaluation.
