BLS SHOWS 1.2% EMPLOYEE GROWTH RATE IN MIDLAND MSA

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this week that the Midland metropolitan statistical area (MSA) not only has the lowest unemployment rate in Texas (2.6%) but also showed 1.2% growth in the number of employees on non-farm payrolls in September.

 

Employees on non-farm payrolls in Midland MSA

September 2024: 122,800

September 2023: 121,300

Growth: 1.2%

 

Employees on non-farm payrolls elsewhere in West Texas

Lubbock 161,800 (1.0% growth)

Amarillo 130,000 (1.8% growth)

Odessa 81,700 (0.5% growth)

Abilene: 78,400 (1.8% growth)

San Angelo 53,300 (2.1% growth)

Note: Average growth across the state was 2.2%
