Chlorine treatment to help with manganese issue
(Dec. 13, 2024)
Dear City of Midland Utilities Customers,
We want to inform you about a recent adjustment to our water treatment process to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality water. Due to natural variations in the levels of manganese in our raw water source, we have increased the amount of chlorine used in the treatment process. Manganese is a naturally occurring mineral that is not harmful to health, and the adjustment is a routine measure to maintain the clarity and quality of your water.
You may notice a stronger smell of chlorine during this period, which is entirely normal and expected. Chlorine levels remain well within the safe and acceptable limits set by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). We are monitoring the system closely and are committed to providing safe and reliable water to all our customers.
Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in the City of Midland Utilities.
