DRIVER TAKES OUT SIGNAL POLE AT MIDKIFF AND HAYNES

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Friday (May 2, 2025), a driver under the influence struck and knocked down the City’s signal pole at Midkiff Road and Haynes Drive.
After the crash, the driver was apprehended by the Fire Department.
The City of Midland installed temporary stop signs that night -- around 2 a.m. -- and returned the next morning to set up a temporary signal. The City is currently coordinating with Oncor to de-energize their overhead line so we can reinstall the permanent signal.
