MFD ANNOUNCES ANNUAL HYDRANT INSPECTIONS TO ENHANCE COMMUNITY SAFETY
(May 28, 2025)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Midland Fire Department will begin its annual hydrant inspections on June 1, 2025. This essential initiative underscores the Fire Department’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.
Fire hydrants play a critical role in firefighting efforts, as they are crucial for providing firefighters with the necessary water supply during emergencies.
“Regular inspections allow us to identify and address any issues, ensuring that every hydrant is fully operational when needed most,” Fire Chief Michael Tully stated. “This proactive approach not only enhances our response capabilities but also contributes significantly to maintaining our ISO 1 City safety rating.”
The ISO (Insurance Services Office) rating is a vital benchmark that reflects the quality of Midland’s fire protection services. Achieving and sustaining an ISO 1 rating places Midland among the top cities in terms of fire safety and response readiness. This rating not only reassures residents about their safety but also positively impacts insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses in our community.
During the inspection period, the Fire Department’s dedicated team will assess each hydrant for functionality, accessibility, and visibility. Any necessary maintenance or repairs will be promptly reported to ensure that all hydrants are ready for use in the event of a fire.
