TRANSPORTATION CREWS ALREADY WORKING AROUND THE CLOCK

(Jan. 24, 2026)

MIDLAND COUNTY -- As of 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, the City of Midland’s Transportation Department had already put down 42,950 pounds of deicer material.

This is the start of a de-icing plan that continues with crews working around the clock and adjustments taking place when new information comes in because of roadway inspections and resident complaints. Spreaders are taking care of the following: bridge decks, major intersections, RR crossings, the hospital and our list of hot spots. Another spreader is dedicated to handling the smaller residential complaints. Each spreader has a follow truck for safety, visibility and in case something breaks down.

Roads are slick, and residents should remain inside to avoid the extreme conditions and be safe this weekend. Animal Services, the Citizens Collection Center (recycling) and the landfill are closed today.
