Posted on: July 17, 2015

[ARCHIVED] TRAFFIC ALERT:

FY 2015 Mill/Overlay Project:

The contractor working for the City of Midland will continue the Mill/Overlay Project at Midland Drive between Loop 250 and Crestgate Avenue and Briarwood Avenue between Midland Drive and Northcrest Drive. During the project, lane closures will be used at Midland Drive from Loop 250 to Crestgate Avenue and Briarwood Avenue form Midland Drive to Northcrest Drive.
The contractor working for the City of Midland will continue the Mill/Overlay Project the week of July 20, 2015 at Midkiff Road between Loop 250 and Mockingbird Lane. During the project, lane closures will be used at Midkiff Road from Loop 250 to Mockingbird Lane.

Utility Extension Program:

The contractor working for the City of Midland on the 2014 Utility Extension Program will be performing work in the area of west Rhode Island Avenue, west New Jersey Avenue, and south L Street. During construction, several intersections and sections of streets may be reduced to one lane or closed at the following locations: 1) W. Rhode Island Ave. from Cotton Flat Road to S. ‘L’ St.; 2) W. New Jersey Ave. from W. Rhode Island Ave. to S. ‘L’ St.; and S. ‘L’ St. from W. Florida Ave. to W. Carter Ave.

West Loop 250 & Interstate 20 Service Roads:

TxDOT has a project underway to install traffic signals on West Loop 250 on the service roads of Interstate 20. During this project, both service roads of Interstate 20 will be four-way stops until the signals are in operation.
Also, multiple oversize load impacts have caused damage to the Loop 250 overpasses at this interchange in recent months, and lane restrictions are in place while repairs are pending.

Highway 191 Service Road at Highway 158/Avalon:

The TxDOT installed all-way stops on the north service road of Highway 191 at Avalon Drive in Midland.
Having traffic stop in all directions at this intersection improves safety, but it and also reduces excessive wait times during peak periods for motorists on the north service road trying to cross Highway 158, which connects to Avalon.
Drivers should exercise caution at this intersection as everyone adjusts to the new operations.
