[ARCHIVED] City wide traffic alerts and lane closures

New school zone on Highway 158:

The Texas Transportation Commission has approved a school zone on Highway 158 in Midland County for Bynum School as well as some speed limit changes on Highway 158. The speed limit on Highway 158 will drop down to 65 mph, with a speed limit of 55 mph two-tenths of a mile before and after the school zone and speeds of 35 mph in the school zone when flashing. Motorists are reminded to be aware of the new signs and to follow the new guidelines.

Lamesa Road Overpass:

TxDOT has installed temporary signals to allow traffic to use the single lane in alternating fashion. It is extremely important that people obey the signal light to prevent crashes. Half of the bridge will be barricaded to prevent use of the section of the overpass that was severely damaged by an oversized load on Tuesday, Oct. 28.

Utility Extension Program:

The City’s Contractor is working at various locations:
• Mogford Street between Michigan Street and Louisiana Street: During the project, Mogford Street, Michigan Street, and Louisiana Street may be temporarily closed or reduced to a single lane of traffic.
• Alley immediately north of West Hicks Avenue between Moran Street and Goode Street: During the project, Goode Street and Johnston Street may be temporarily closed or reduced to a single lane. They alley between Goode Street and Moran Street may also have partial closures.
• Between Scharbauer Drive and Elm Avenue, east of Lamesa Road: During the project, Scharbauer Drive and Elm Avenue may be temporarily closed or reduced to a single lane.
• South Mineola Street between east Industrial Avenue and east Wall Street: During the project, south Mineola Street may be temporarily closed or reduced to a single lane. The intersections at east Industrial Avenue, east Wall Street and east Texas Avenue may also have partial closures.
