MPD thanks Lt. Sean Sharp for service

MPD CONGRATULATES LT. SEAN SHARP ON DESERVED RETIREMENT

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- “On behalf of the Midland Police Department, we would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Lt. Sean Sharp as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement after 20 years of dedicated service. His contributions have left an indelible mark on our department and the community we serve.

LT. Sean Sharp joined the Midland Police Department as a recruit on August 18, 2003, swiftly advancing to Officer status in January 2004. During his tenure as an Officer, he assumed the role of Field Training Officer (FTO), mentoring numerous young recruits and he served as a member of SWAT Team since 2005. In June 2016, he ascended to the rank of sergeant, further solidifying his leadership within the department. Later, in December 2022, Sean achieved the rank of Lieutenant, marking a significant milestone in his career progression.

Throughout his service, Lt. S. Sharp contributed significantly to various divisions, including the Field Operations Bureau (FOB) and the ISB Narcotics Division, before eventually being transferred to the SSB training division.

Lt. S. Sharp’s dedication and exemplary service were consistently recognized, earning him numerous commendations over the years. These include Officer of the Year in 2005, the Distinguished Service Medal in 2006, FTO of the Year in 2008, the Medal of Service in 2009, the Chief’s Award in 2011, ISB Supervisor of the Year in 2018, the Medal of Valor in 2019, and Supervisor of the Year in 2020.

The Midland Police Department would like to thank Lt. S. Sharp for his many years of service and for being an integral part of the MPD family and his legacy will continue to inspire all of us.”
