MPD: DRIVER LOCATED AFTER COLLISION WITH PEDESTRIANS

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Midland Police have located the driver of an SUV involved in a collision with two pedestrians on Monday, May 27, 2024.
At approximately 1:50 a.m. several subjects outside La Cantina (200 E. Florida Ave.) began to engage in a physical altercation on the northeast corner of the parking lot, according to MPD reports. The altercation migrated into the eastbound lanes of the 200 block of East Florida.
Two pedestrians were in the outside lane and struck by a midsize maroon Cadillac SUV, police reported.
“The SUV was traveling eastbound and appeared to be in both lanes of travel,” according to MPD reports. “The driver of the SUV never slowed for the subjects. A witness advised the SUV turned north after the collision occurred. The driver of the SUV fled the scene.”
One pedestrian is suffering from life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition on Monday morning. The other pedestrian was listed in stable condition.
The driver of the Cadillac XT6 – 36-year-old Danny Paul Rodriguez – has been located and MPD reports charges are pending further investigation.
