MIDLAND MSA LABOR FORCE GROWS; JOBLESS RATE AGAIN LOWEST IN STATE

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Midland metropolitan statistical area (MSA) posted the lowest unemployment rate in the state during the month of June (2.9%), according to numbers released by the Texas Workforce Commission last week.
Amarillo was second at 3.4%. Odessa’s jobless rate was 4.0%, and the state average was 4.5% during the month. In June 2023, Midland’s unemployment rate was 2.6%.
The size of the civilian labor force in June was 116,900, which was nearly 3,000 more than one year ago (114,200 in June 2023).
