City council filing period ends with competitive at-large, District 1 races

CITY COUNCIL FILING PERIOD ENDS; BALLOT SET

(AUG. 19, 2024)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- There will be two contested Midland City Council races on the Nov. 5, 2024, ballot.  

The filing period for those elections ended Monday. The following people filed to put their names on the ballot: 

  • At-large race (city-wide, the two candidates receiving the most votes earn seats): John Burkholder, Eric Davidson, Rance Norton, Robin Poole) 
  • District 1 (generally north Midland): Heather Bredimus, Brian Stubbs 

In District 2 (generally south and east Midland), John Norman was the lone person to file. Norman will earn his second full term as District 2's representative, because he does not have an opponent.  

Council races for Mayor, District 3 and District 4 will take place in November 2025.

As a reminder, the following are important days regarding the Nov. 5, 2024, election:  

  • Last day to register to vote: Oct. 7 
  • First day of early voting: Oct 21 
  • Last day of early voting: Nov. 1
