MFD: 16.7% OF ALL FIRE DEPARTMENT RUNS MADE OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Midland Fire Department runs in the county made up 16.7% of all responses during the month of July.
MFD reported that there was a total of 1,998 calls (fire, EMS and other) in July. Of those, 334 were from addresses outside city limits. That included 19 fire calls, 235 EMS calls and 80 other calls.
This year, total calls into the county are up 8.8%, including 152 fire calls, 1,810 EMS calls and 521 other calls.
The 70% of calls for EMS in the county was comparable to the 74% in the city in July. MFD reported there were 1,998 total calls (city and county), and 1,467 were for EMS. MFD reported 74% of calls this calendar year (January through July) have been for EMS. That is the exact same percentage as January through July of 2024.
The Midland Fire Department responds to fire and EMS calls inside the city of Midland and throughout the county.
Note: “Other” calls include those for carbon monoxide, gas meter leaks, lines down, public service fire, HazMat, submerged vehicles, unusual odors, etc.
