A project to reconfigure Interstate 20 ramps that service West Loop 250 and rebuild frontage roads is scheduled to start later this month. The nearly year-long project will have several traffic pattern changes during the course of construction.
The project will adjust ramp locations, build deceleration lanes on interstate 20, and add turn lanes on the frontage roads. This work will help with getting traffic exiting the interstate out of the interstate travel lanes.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to find alternate routes if possible. Motorists driving through the area are reminded that they must obey all warning signs and any flaggers they see. With high traffic volumes in the area, motorists will be a prime factor in safety in the work zone.
The speed limit in the 1.4-mile area will be reduced to 55 miles per hour. Law enforcement will be asked to step up enforcement in the area in the interest of public safety.
Concrete traffic barriers will be in place in part of the work zone to help protect work crews. All lanes will be open for the majority of the project.

A project to install traffic signals on FM 1788 just north and south of Business Interstate 20 in Midland County will start later this month. Traffic signals will be put in at both Younger Road
and County Road 127.

Both traffic signals will include arrows for left turn lanes. Work will be done simultaneously at both locations. Police presence will be added when signal poles are being installed. Lanes will be kept open as much as possible, but delays and detours will happen at times.
The project is scheduled to be completed in March 2016.

Younger Road is just north of BI-20. Younger Road is also known as West County Road 117 and it becomes the north service road on the west side of FM 1788.
County Road 127 is south of BI-20. It runs along the north side of an auto parts store and a convenience store.
