CITY LEADERS APPROVE INVESTMENTS FOR MPD, FIREMEN'S RETIREMENT FUND, HAZMAT TEAM DONATIONS
(Oct. 29, 2025)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Midland City Council approved a nearly $3 million investment in vehicle upgrades for the Midland Police Department.
City leaders approved the purchase of 26 Chevrolet Tahoes, five Ford Explorers and six Ford F-150 pick-up trucks upfitted for MPD use.
These vehicles will be replacements for vehicles that range from 5 to 11 years in service and have high mileage and/or long service hours and have gone beyond their useful service life.

City leaders took a proactive step toward greater stabilization of the Midland Fireman’s Relief and Retirement Fund.
The council approved moving $250,000 from the rate stabilization fund balance to the newly established Firefighter Retirement Stability Fund. The set-aside serves as a strategic reserve that could be drawn up in future years.

Finally, thank you to Enterprise Crude Pipeline and Targa Resources for donations to be used for the purchase of gas monitors for the Midland Fire Department HAZMAT team.
