SALE TAX COLLECTION REMAINS AHEAD OF BUDGET, LAST YEAR'S RECORD PACE

(Nov. 7, 2025)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The City of Midland’s sales tax collection for fiscal year 2026 remains ahead of budget.

The City of Midland reported collecting $5,572,584 in sales tax revenue in November. While a decrease of 3.24% compared to November 2024, the City's 2026 year-to-date actuals are over budget by $489,668.

The fiscal year-to-date total increased to $11,310,889 – a 1.76% increase compared to FY 2025’s record pace.

City staff reported the decrease compared to November 2024 is partly driven by a negative audit adjustment in 2025 against the city’s favor.

Sales tax revenue is generated by sales tax income from two months prior to collection; The November collection is based on September sales. The City of Midland collects a full cent of the 8.25% of sales tax inside the City.
