MIDLAND, TEXAS -- A 93-year-old man was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries after his vehicle left an elevated roadway in north Midland, according to Midland Police.

MPD officers reported that around 11:49 a.m. Friday (Nov. 8, 2024) the man was driving a 2018 Honda Ridgeline eastbound on Loop 250 when he approached the overpass at Big Spring Street.

“For an unknown reason, (the vehicle) left the elevated roadway of the loop and fell into the area near the intersection of North Big Spring Street and the Loop 250 South Service Road,” MPD reported.

The Honda Ridgeline collided with a Toyota Camry, which was traveling southbound on Big Spring Street. The driver of the Camry was released at the scene with minor injuries.

“It is suspected that the driver of the Honda Ridgeline experienced a medical emergency prior to the collision based on witness statements,” MPD reported. “The investigation is ongoing.”
