MPD, MFD RESPOND TO FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT ON LOOP 250

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- At 8:02 p.m. Thursday (May 15, 2025), Midland Police and Fire Department officials responded to a fatal accident in the 5300 block of West Loop 250 North.
MPD officials reported that – according to witnesses -- the operator of a 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed.
“The operator attempted to pass two vehicles by maneuvering between them (splitting the lane),” MPD reported. “During the attempt, the operator lost control of the motorcycle and struck the guardrail at the beginning of the curve.”
MPD then reported that the operator – 38-year-old John Joseph Villalobos of Lubbock -- was ejected from the motorcycle and later pronounced deceased at the scene.
Next of kin has been notified, and the investigation continues.
