MIDLAND'S MERRY LIGHTS CONTINUES SEASON OF CITY PROGRAMMING

(Nov. 25, 2025)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The City of Midland is proud to once again present Midland’s Merry Lights in partnership with Centennial Park.

The holiday experience in the heart of downtown promises a transformation of the Tall City into a West Texas winter wonderland, bringing the community together to celebrate the season.

The official tree-lighting ceremony and Christmas market also continues a summer/fall season full of city programming that has introduced more than 10,000 people to premier City of Midland events and programming.

We started in August with the Fourth Annual Fly into Fall – the educational and interactive aviation experience for all ages, hosted at Airpark by the City of Midland Airports Department and Championed by Councilwoman at-large and Airport Liaison Robin Poole.

Then came Chalk the Block in October. The second-annual event allowed Midlanders to show their creative side and fill downtown with color, energy and local talent. It was a celebration of art and community spirit.

With fall in full force, a pair of festivals – Truck or Treat and Halloweenfest – gave Midlanders, young and young at heart, a chance to come face to face with members of Midland’s Fire Department, Police Department and Parks and Recreation Department. Thousands left with some candy for their sweet tooth and a positive vibe about Midland from these traditional events.

Midland Health Services also held its traditional Fall Festival & Resource Fair, and The City of Midland supported the Midland Veterans Partnership with a first Veterans Day parade and cookout – the first of many we expect.

As the air turns colder and days shorter, Midlanders’ focus turns to the Christmas season and the Midland’s Merry Lights tree-lighting ceremony and Christmas Market on Tuesday, December 2 and the lighted parade on Dec. 13.

The Official Tree Lighting Ceremony will include a shopping market, food trucks, live performances, pictures with Santa and a projection light show on East Wall Tower, generously sponsored by Community National Bank.

The Midland’s Merry Lighted Christmas Parade will again go along “A” Street, past Wadley-Barron Park. Expect festive floats, community performances and a visit from Santa Claus.

Not only are these events important for communal and entertainment reasons, but local restaurants stated the impact of last year’s Merry Lights season was an additional 30% in business. We expect that economic benefit to continue.

We also expect that Midlanders will enjoy the expansion of lighted features, which will not only be centered at Centennial Park but will evolve north into the lot that is currently home to the Downtown Farmers’ Market. In fact, market officials have stated their intention to have their first night markets in December.

These will also be followed up with events throughout the season at Centennial Park including Hot Chocolate Night, sponsored by ConocoPhillips, horse drawn carriages on most evenings, and a Jingle Jump night to get Christmas energy out on December 30th. All new event information, parking information, and much more can be found on our new website, Midland's Merry Lights - City of Midland Holiday Event

The run of city programming fulfills Strategic Plan Goal No. 3 – Quality of Life and Place by enhancing community engagements and by creating an attractive and inclusive living environment.

We expect more Midlanders will make Midland’s Merry Lights part of the holiday season. Many lights are already shining bright and bringing life to downtown at night. Have you planned your trip? You have options.
