EXTREME WEATHER IMPACTS JANUARY NUMBERS AT MIDLAND INTERNATIONAL AIR & SPACE PORT

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- January’s winter weather situation impacted airline travel last month at Midland International Air & Space Port, dropping passenger loads compared to 2025’s record totals.

City of Midland Airport officials reported 45,136 passengers in January, which was down by 11.83% compared to January 2025 and even below the 47,247 total from January 2024. Midland International Air & Space Port was impacted by a winter weather event that limited the number of airline flights coming in and out of Midland.

Through the first four months of the fiscal year, there have been 233,327 airline passengers leaving Midland. That is a 5.96% decrease compared to the same period in FY 2024-25. It is worth noting that Midland International has been impacted by a government shutdown and extreme weather situation this fiscal year and is still ahead of FY 2023-24 passenger totals.

Southwest grabbed more than half of the passenger load in January (43.2%). United was second with 31.1%.
