MIDLAND MSA LEADS TEXAS IN EMPLOYMENT GROWTH AGAIN

The Midland metropolitan statistical area (MSA) again led the state employment growth during the month of November, according to a Bureau of Labor Statistics report this week.
The BLS reported an over-the-year percentage gain in employment of 4.7% in November, which was the sixth-largest in the nation, according to BLS statistics. Midland easily led the West Texas region, where the next largest gain reported was in Lubbock (2.9%). The state average was 3.0%.
Midland also posted the lowest unemployment rate in the state (2.2%). The state average was 3.5%. The BLS reported that the lowest jobless rate in the nation in November belonged to Fargo, North Dakota-Minnesota (1.3%). The national unemployment rate in November was 3.5%.
