Airline passengers increase during first six months of fiscal year

AIRLINE PASSENGERS IN MIDLAND INCREASE BY NEARLY 11% THIS FISCAL YEAR

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The number of airline passengers flying out of Midland International Air and Space Port has increased by 10.89% halfway through the fiscal year.

Airport officials reported the number of passengers flying Southwest Airlines, American Eagle and United climbed to 60,482 in March. That total is 8.1% higher than March 2023. The fiscal-year-to-date total jumped to 346,451 six months into fiscal year 2024.

Southwest Airlines carried the largest share of revenue passengers, with around 49% of the total in March. Southwest, United and American Eagle all fly into and out of Midland. Next week, Delta will become the fourth airline to provide service, beginning on April 22, 2024. 

City officials also reported that parking revenue at Midland International Air & Space Port increased 15.9% in March (compared to March 2023). The $660,904 in net parking revenue increased the fiscal year-to-date total to $3.882 million, a 14.63% increase compared to the first six months of FY 2023.
