Animal Services manager calls for community to help

City of Midland News Release Posted on April 26, 2024

ANIMAL SHELTER RE-OPENS, AGAIN FLOODED WITH PETS

(April 26, 2024)

By Melissa Griffin-Hobson

We're back! After three days of deep cleaning, we're thrilled to open our doors again.

On our first day back, we welcomed 53 animals, including 28 dogs, into our care. However, taking in such a large number of animals in a single day is concerning as it highlights the ongoing issue of pet overpopulation and the importance of responsible pet ownership. We urge the community to step up and take care of Midlands animals to prevent them from ending up in shelters.

Spaying/neutering pets, providing proper identification, and ensuring they receive necessary vaccinations and care are crucial steps.

Now, more than ever, we need your support. Whether it's through adopting, fostering, volunteering or simply spreading the word, every little bit helps.

Let's work together to give these furry friends the love and care they deserve. Thank you for being a part of our community!
