(Sept. 22, 2025)

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Midland County and the City of Midland attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the Occidental Parkway extension on Monday.

This project, made possible through a joint effort between the County and the City, extends Occidental Parkway to connect from State Highway 349 (North Big Spring Street) to North County Road 1150 (Elkins Road), improving access and traffic flow for the community. The road is expected to open later this week.

This significant project highlights the collaborative effort between Midland County and the City of Midland to improve infrastructure and provide greater connectivity for residents.

“Occidental Parkway is a great example of what we can accomplish when Midland County and the City of Midland work together,” said County Judge Terry Johnson. “This project improves transportation and reflects our commitment to serving the needs of a growing community.”

“This extension will make a real difference for drivers and families in north Midland,” said Mayor Lori Blong. “We’re proud to partner with Midland County to deliver a project that improves connectivity and supports our city’s future.”
