Calls to MFD increase across the board in October

CALLS FOR FIRE, EMS INCREASE IN OCTOBER 2025

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Calls to Midland Fire Department were higher across the board in October, compared to the same month in 2024.

MFD reported increases in fire calls, EMS calls and “other” calls. Yearly numbers are up for EMS calls and other calls (those for carbon monoxide, gas meter leaks, lines down, public service fire, HazMat, submerged vehicles, unusual odors) but slightly down for fire. Yearly trends are the same for inside the city and in the county. MFD reports:

  • 20.3% of all calls in October were from residents living in the county (and outside the city)
  • 18.7% of all calls this year have been from residents living in the county (and outside the city)
  • 73% of all calls in October were for EMS services
  • 73.7% of all calls this year have been for EMS services (down from 74.9% last year)
  • 2.8% of all calls in October and this year have been for fires.
