CREWS CONTINUE TO WORK AROUND THE CLOCK ON CITY'S STREETS
(Jan. 26, 2026)
MIDLAND, TEXAS -- Through Monday afternoon, City of Midland Transportation Department officials reported using 23 tons of de-icing material.
Crews have worked 12-hour shifts (from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.). During this time, crews treated areas as needed and cleared the outside lanes using motor graders and trail vehicles. Crews also have responded to complaint calls.
City officials announced they will continue treating roadways with road salt on Monday as conditions require. They also remind residents that drivers still need to be cautious because black ice will be dotted throughout the city.
