Found Pets: What To Do
If you’ve found a lost pet, taking the right steps can help reunite them with their family quickly.
Immediate Steps
- Check for Identification: Look for a collar, tags, or any form of ID that might help identify the owner. If contact information is available, reach out to them directly.
- Contact Midland Animal Services: Report the found pet by calling or emailing Animal Services. Provide as much detail as possible, including the pet’s breed, color, size, and any unique characteristics.
- Visit a Veterinarian: If the pet has no visible ID, visit a vet to check for a microchip, which may provide information to contact the owner.

- Examples: PawBoost, Nextdoor, and Facebook groups like "West Texas Pet Detective" and "Midland/Odessa Texas Lost and Found Pets."
- Create Posters/Flyers: Make flyers with a clear photo of the pet and your contact information. Post them in the area where the pet was found, as well as at local businesses, vet clinics, and community boards.
