Frequently Asked Questions
Outage information is updated on the online map every 10 minutes. However, during high traffic on the site, the map may take longer to refresh.
The map may not show an outage symbol directly over your home or business. One outage can impact multiple locations, and the outage symbol is placed near the electrical equipment where the outage originates. For safety reasons, the map does not display specific homes or businesses without power.
This refers to the most up-to-date estimate of when all homes and businesses in a specific ZIP Code, county, or group of outages will have power restored. Zoom in on the map for specific outage information. If the estimated time is not available, it will be listed as “Currently Unknown.”
Oncor employees will never request payment to prevent disconnection. They will only perform work outside your home and will wear company-branded clothing with an ID badge. If unsure, you can call Oncor at 888-313-6862 to confirm an employee’s identity. For safety concerns, call 911.
Customers typically own the meter base, the wiring in the meter base, and the conduit and wiring connecting to the weather head. Oncor owns the pole, transformer, and the service line connecting to your weather head and meter.
Oncor delivers the electricity you buy from your Retail Electric Provider (REP). Our rates are approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) and can be viewed on the Billing and Rate Schedule page.
