The Midland Police Department is seeking it’s 9th accreditation award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement agencies:
As part of Midland Police Department’s on-going strive for community service and professionalism, a team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies also known as CALEA (ca-lee-ah) will conduct an on-site evaluation of the Department from August 5th – 8th, 2019. During this time the assessors will review the department’s policies and practices to make sure they are in compliance with the commission’s standards. This is a voluntary process that signifies M.P.D. has met the requirements of a highly regarded and broadly accepted body of professional law enforcement quality.
M.P.D. will have two opportunities for the public to address the assessors and the Department’s accredited status:
A public call-in session will be held on August 6th, 2019 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone interested in commenting on M.P.D.’s accredited status or the department’s compliance to CALEA standards may call 432-685-7594 during that time. Phone calls will be limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards.
A public hearing will also be held at 7:00 p.m. on August 7th, 2019 at City Hall Council Chambers. Assessors will be available to accept public comments and questions. Public appearances will be limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency’s ability to comply with CALEA standards.
A copy of the commission standards M.P.D. adheres to is available at the front desk of the Midland Police Department, 601 N. Loraine.
