MIDLAND MSA POSTS LOWEST JOBLESS RATE IN TEXAS IN OCTOBER

MIDLAND, TEXAS -- The Midland metropolitan statistical area (MSA) again posted the lowest unemployment rate in Texas in October, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.
The report, which was released Friday (Nov. 15, 2024), showed Midland as the lone MSA in the state with an unemployment rate below 3%. The 2.8% jobless rate was better than Amarillo’s 3.1% rate. College Station-Bryan (3.2%), Abilene (3.5%) and Austin-Round Rock (3.5%) rounded out the lowest five rates in Texas. The Workforce Commission also showed a state average of 4.1% in October and a national average of 3.9%.
Other highlights from the report included a 2.5% growth rate in the civilian labor force inside the Midland MSA.
