The City of Midland Police Department will have the option to sport facial hair – for a good cause.
During the month of November, Midland Police Officers will have the option to grow a beard, goatee, or for the ladies – dye their hair a bright color. The catch? To do so, they must donate to a worthy cause. MPD has partnered with The Cure Starts Now, an organization which focuses on deadly childhood cancers, to be the beneficiary.
“We are honored to join with other law enforcement agencies across the state to support this worthy cause,” said Seth Herman, Interim Police Chief.
Each “no-shave” accessory carries a different cost: $30 for a goatee, $50 for a beard, and $30 for brightly colored hair. Shirts supporting the cause can also be purchased for $30. The Midland Police Department set a goal of raising $2,500 during the month. By the end of November 1, the department had already exceeded that much in donations.
This is the first year MPD has participated in the program.
