Citizens are encouraged to sign up soon to host a party in their neighborhood for National Night Out.
On Aug. 5, residents in neighborhoods throughout Midland and across the nation are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors and public safety employees. Many neighborhoods throughout Midland will be hosting a variety of special events such as block parties, cookouts, visits from the police, flashlight walks and more.
Citizens can call and register their block party today by calling Jessica Rodriguez with the Community Relations Unit at the Midland Police Department at 432-685-7582. Residents are asked to register their neighborhood party by July 26.
National Night Out is a nationwide crime prevention event designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and are fighting back against crime.
