The City of Midland will host a meeting to gather public input on a new hike/bike trails master plan starting at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20 at the Midland County Centennial Library (2503 W. Loop 250 N, next to Best Buy).
City officials are currently working to develop the city's first Trails Master Plan that could allow more interconnectivity and mobility between neighborhoods and key destinations within the city such as schools, parks, restaurants, shopping centers, and downtown. The plan will identify key corridors for the development of safe and convenient hiking and biking facilities. A survey held by the Parks and Recreation Division for its 2012 Master Plan identified hike and bike trails as the top recreational need in Midland.
A meeting was held earlier this year for preliminary thoughts and concerns, and draft recommendations have been compiled for review. All residents are invited to attend an open house to review the proposed corridors and to give feedback, thoughts and concerns to city staff. A formal presentation and discussion will take place starting at 6:30 p.m.
