The public is invited to attend the lighting of the downtown Midland Christmas tree on Dec. 6 and the annual Christmas parade on Dec. 13.
This is the City of Midland's first year to hold a separate event for the downtown tree lighting, which will take place with several other fun holiday events starting at 6:30 p.m. at Centennial Plaza (100 N. Loraine). Performances will be made by choirs from Midland High School and Community Worship Church, Santa Claus will be in attendance, and there will be drawings for door prizes. The movie "The Santa Clause" will be shown starting after 7:30 p.m.
This year’s parade, which has the theme of “Wild West Christmas Parade,” will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 in downtown Midland.
Local businesses, residents, schools, churches, and non-profits are all invited to submit an application and participate in the parade.
Registration forms, including rules and regulations, are available at www.midlandtexas.gov and at the following locations:
• Midland City Hall (300 N. Loraine)
• Martin Luther King Recreation Center (2300 Butternut Lane)
All applications MUST be returned to the Martin Luther King Recreation Center (2300 Butternut Lane), faxed to 432-685-7380 or emailed to jajolly@midlandtexas.gov by 6 p.m. on Dec. 11.
