[ARCHIVED] City assisting in storm debris cleanup efforts

The City of Midland is providing several drop-off locations for citizens to dispose of brush, limbs and trees brought down by icy conditions.

Two temporary drop-off sites will be open 24 hours per day, seven days per week until cleanup efforts are done. They are located at Hogan Park, 1201 E. Wadley Ave., in the parking lot south of Christensen Stadium and east of the soccer fields, and Beal Park, 5200 W. Wall St., in the parking lot east of the skate park.

Citizens may also drop off storm debris during regular business hours at the Citizen Collection Station, located at 4100 Smith Rd., or the City of Midland Landfill, 7901 Garden City Highway. Any charges for tree limb disposal will be waived during cleanup from this ice storm.

The City of Midland continues to work closely with Midland Tree Keepers and Oncor to encourage safe practices in cleanup efforts. Citizens are urged to Oncor directly if a tree limb or other object has come in contact with power lines instead of attempting to clear the debris themselves. City crews continue to work in the public right-of-way to remove limbs and trees that are causing safety or transportation issues.

Damaged power lines or power outages can be reported to Oncor by calling 1-888-313-4747. Outages can also be reported by logging on to stormcenter.oncor.com.
