[ARCHIVED] Day of Service to be celebrated at MLK Community Center

Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center (2300 Butternut Ln.) will host several events on the afternoon of Monday, Jan. 19 for the MLK Day of Service.

2 - 4 p.m.: Your Community Needs You!

Volunteer Expo and Partnering in Education Presentation

Sponsored by Community & Senior Services of Midland, Inc. and MISD

Vendor booths, live entertainment, and much more!

4 - 5 p.m.: Making Midland Better Together

A conversation with the Midland Police Department

Facilitated by Making an IMPACT, Inc. and Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance

5:30 p.m.: Annual MLK March

A Historic and Symbolic Remembrance

Starting North of Butternut Lane/Oak St. Intersection

6:45 p.m.: Presentation of Annual MLK Community Service Award

Recognizing Our Community Leaders

Presented by Midland African American Roots Historical Cultural Arts Council. Inc.

7 p.m.: Main Event: Annual MLK Day Program

“Looking Back – Moving Forward”

Presented by Negro Business & Professional Women of Midland

Featuring Midland MLK Community Youth Choir, Macedonia Praise Dancers, and CWC Steppers

Keynote Speaker: Rev. Kenneth Johnson, Pastor of Goodwill Baptist Church
