[ARCHIVED] Public meeting to discuss findings from draw studies

The City of Midland will host a public meeting on Thursday, Feb.19 to discuss recommendations resulting from the study of the Jal and Midland Draws.

The public meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria of Greathouse Elementary School (5107 Greathouse Ave.). The portion of Jal Draw included in the study extends from Highway 349 North to Loop 250 North and the portion of Midland Draw included in the study extends from Highway 349 to the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and A Street.

Maps and drawings describing the study and the recommendations for future channel alignments will be displayed at the meeting. Citizens in attendance will be informed about the project and will have a chance to speak directly with the engineers. The proposed alternatives were selected to guide future development and to protect adjacent properties against flooding resulting from a major rainfall event.

All interested citizens are invited to attend this public meeting. Exhibits will also be available in Suite 510 at City Hall, which is located at 300 North Loraine, until Feb. 27. Inidividuals who are interested in attending the public meeting who have special communication needs or requires physical accommodations is encouraged to call the city’s Public Information Officer at 432-685-7593 at least three days before the meeting.
