[ARCHIVED] One killed, one transported in rollover accident on Highway 191

An Odessa man was killed and another person was injured in a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to the 10300 block of State Highway 191 near Mid-Cities Church in reference to an accident. Joshua McFarlin, 20, was declared deceased on scene. Bailey Long, 17, was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation into the accident revealed McFarlin was the passenger in a GMC Sierra pickup driven by Long. The pickup was traveling east in the outside lane and moved into the inside lane to pass another vehicle. While moving back to the outside lane, the pickup began to fishtail. Long was unable to regain control of the pickup causing it to roll several times. McFarlin was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

Weather conditions and speed are being considered as possible contributing factors to this accident. Next of kin has been notified and the investigation continues.
