A message from Fire Chief Robert Isbell:
"It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we inform you that Aaron Hughes, Driver/Paramedic with the Midland Fire Department, passed away late Thursday night after a yearlong battle with cancer. Aaron worked as a firefighter for Big Spring Fire Department before coming to Midland in 2008, serving a total of eight years. He was a model member, encouraging others to be the best they can be at their jobs. He served at the Hazmat station for many years before promoting to driver for one of the busiest engines in the city. He was very well respected by the entire department and will truly be missed.
Aaron is survived by his wife and two young daughters, ages 2 and 9. He was a big supporter of his wife’s passion for barrel racing and spent many events in the stands with the girls, cheering her on. His life revolved around his family, with great attention to his girls.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the James Roberts Arena building at 855 E. Broadway, Andrews, Texas, 79714."
