Two people are in custody following an undercover narcotics investigation that led to the finding of several types of drugs and weapons in a Midland residence last week.
Jesus Gonzales, 26, and Ashleigh Bennett, 19, are facing charges for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The two suspects, who are believed to have been residing in Midland, are also facing additional pending charges.
The Midland Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Agency Midland Resident Office obtained and executed a federal search warrant on Tuesday, Oct. 6 in the 5100 block of Ric Drive. Upon entering the residence, officers and agents found distributable amounts of narcotics including what they suspected to be crystal methamphetamine, brown heroin, crack cocaine, powder cocaine and marijuana. A hand grenade, four handguns, one shotgun and an AR-15 rifle were also discovered along with protective body armor and a police radio scanner. The weapons appeared to be evenly distributed throughout the residence in strategic locations and easily accessible.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms confirmed the hand grenade was a live explosive, and the agency is assisting with the ongoing investigation into this case.
