[ARCHIVED] Registration now open for city-wide Chili Cook-Off

Midlanders are invited to bring their best chili recipe to a city-wide cook-off on Nov. 10 that is attended by hundreds of people each year.

Teams and individuals may now register for the Midland Municipal Employee Scholarship Fund's 9th Annual Chili Cook-Off from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10 at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (2104 W. Louisiana).

All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the non-profit scholarship fund, which has awarded college scholarships to 273 dependents of City of Midland employees since its inception in 1995.

Entry fee is $20 per team, and the team with the Best Overall Chili will be awarded a cash prize of $150. Teams and individuals from outside the City of Midland are welcome to register. Registration forms can be downloaded online at

Attendees can taste test all of the chili and by purchasing a ticket for $5 in advance from the first floor receptionist at City Hall (300 N. Loraine) or $7 at the door. The entrance fee includes chili, crackers and a drink, and baked goods will be available for purchase. Everyone who purchases a Chili Cook-Off ticket will be eligible to win door prizes to be given away at the event.
