Halloween is just around the corner and the Midland Police Department is providing important tips so you don’t find yourself in a scary situation while celebrating.
As families go trick-or-treating on Saturday, Oct. 31, law enforcement will be busy keeping Midland safe. Here’s how you can help:
- Remind your kids never to go into a stranger’s house while trick-or-treating; children should always be where parents can see them.
- Do not eat opened or unwrapped candy.
- Teach children to look both ways before crossing a street. Kids have a higher risk of being injured by a car on Halloween than any other day of the year.
- If they're old enough to go without an adult, ask your children what route they’ll take and set a curfew.
- Give your children a flashlight or reflector so they are more visible at night.
- Go trick-or-treating in groups.
