Community members are invited to join their neighbors and local police officers for coffee and conversation from 7-9 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5 at Starbucks (3203 N. Midkiff Rd.).
This “Coffee with a Cop” program allows citizens and police to come together in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee. The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members, one cup of coffee at a time. The majority of contact law enforcement has with the public happens during emergencies or emotional situations. These situations are not always the most effective times for relationship building with the community. "Coffee with a Cop" breaks down barriers and allows for a relaxed, one-on-one interaction.
For more information, the public is asked to call MPD Community Relations at 432-685-7582.
