[ARCHIVED] City of Midland to hold flu vaccination clinics on Dec. 7 and 11

The City of Midland's Health & Senior Services Division will hold flu vaccination clinics on Monday and Friday as part of National Influenza Vaccination Week.

Health & Senior Services, located at 3303 West Illinois Ave. in the Kingsway Mall, will hold the clinics from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7 and 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 11. The vaccine is available for individuals who are 6 months of age and up, and a high-dose vaccine is available for individuals who are 65 years and older. The division accepts private insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare.

It's not too late to get a flu shot, according to officials, who are using the national awareness week to inform the community about the importance of obtaining an annual vaccination against the virus.

"Getting vaccinated is the single best way for individuals to protect not only themselves against the flu, but their loved ones as well," said Health Manager Celestino "Sal" Garcia.

Fees for the vaccinations are:

- $20 – 6 months through 2 years of age

- $30 – 3 years through 64 years of age

- $40 – 65 years of age and up
