Fourteen Midland Police Department recruits will graduate from the 96th Permian Basin Law Enforcement Academy at 2 p.m. on Monday, May 16 at the Horseshoe Arena (2514 Arena Trail).
Graduates will take the oath of office and be presented for the first time in their official uniforms. The ceremony is open to the public.
The graduates began their training on Jan. 11 at the law enforcement academy, which included a rigorous academic schedule, physical fitness and defensive tactics training. All recruits were required to pass the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education exam. After graduation, the newly sworn-in MPD officers will participate in field training with experienced officers before completing training in mid-August.
