[ARCHIVED] New phone scams targeting Midland residents claiming to be police

The Midland Police Department is warning residents of a new round of phone scams targeting Midland residents that are claiming to be police asking for donations.

Several Midland residents have recently reported being called by a recording that falsely claims to be from MPD asking for funds. Midland police do not send out recorded messages and will not solicit for donations over the phone.

Individuals who receive these calls are encouraged to promptly hang up and not to provide any personal information.

There are no leads as of this time as to the source of the calls; anyone with information is asked to call MPD at 432-685-7108.
