[ARCHIVED] Midland police make arrest in fatal stabbing

The Midland Police Department arrested a suspect overnight who is believed to have fatally stabbed a man at an apartment complex on Tuesday evening.

Juan Carlos Lucatero, 26, has been charged with the murder of 66-year-old Paul Cytulik Sr. and is being held at Midland County Detention Center.

Midland Police and Fire Departments responded to reports of a stabbing at approximately 7:57 p.m. Tuesday at the Summerhill Apartments, located in the 3000 block of Midland Drive. Upon arrival, they found Cytulik, a resident of the apartment complex, with multiple stab wounds in the area of the apartment's pool. He was transported with multiple stab wounds on his torso and was declared deceased at the hospital shortly after as a result of his injuries.

Lucatero fled the scene on foot and matched descriptions given by several witnesses during the investigation. A bicycle left near the crime scene led police to Lucatero's nearby residence in the 4400 block of Andrews Highway, where police located and arrested him overnight. Detectives executed a search warrant and found bloodied clothing and a weapon matching descriptions given by witnesses at the apartment complex.

The investigation into the incident, including motive, is ongoing and next of kin has been notified.
